Post Flight Procedures

NER Supplement 2 to CAPR 62-2 dated 15 April 2008 is supplemented as follows:

1. All PICs (pilot in command) will conduct a complete Post Flight examination of the aircraft using Pre flight procedures for that type of aircraft. Any damage must be reported Immediately and Personally to the PA Wing Commander, the PA Wing Director of Safety, and the NE Region Commander using the telephone numbers listed in the PA Wing Supplement 1 to CAPR 62-2 dated 24 January 2008 and the NE Region Supplement 2 to CAPR 62-2 dated 15 April 2008.

2. If there is no damage indicated, the PIC will make a note in the log stating "Post Flight Check - OK" and then sign next to the "OK".

1: As of 1 July 2008, the Pennsylvania Wing Aircraft rates per hobbs hours will be as follows:

C-172 - $ 76.00
C-182 - $113.00
C-182RG - $119.00
206 $135.00
Maule - $ 96.00
GA8 $125.00

2: These rates include maintenance, fuel, equipment, and oil.
3: This rate is calculated by fuel usage & maintenance cost from National. The Aircraft rates will be continually evaluated for rate adjustments.

All cadets who are planning to attend PAWG ENC 2008 or CLS 2008 can submit their applications now through July 6.

All approved cadet and senior staff can also submit their information now through July 6.

Fee for PAWG cadets, cadet staff and seniors is $175.

Fee for non-PAWG cadets is $225.

The next Group 5 Commanders Call and Staff Meeting will be held at 1300 hrs, 23 August, 2008 at University Park Airport. All Group 5 squadron commanders or their representatives are encouraged to attend. The Cadet Advisory Council (CAC) will also meet during this time. Each squadron should plan on sending their CAC rep and at least one alternate to this meeting.

The 23rd Annual Sentimental Journey to Cub Haven Fly-In will be June 17th - 21st, 2008. This annual event is the sort of 'homecoming' for Piper aircraft and aviation enthusiasts, and is held at the William T. Piper Memorial Airport (LHV) in Lock Haven, PA right next to the old Piper factory and museum. This years featured airplanes will be the J-5, PA-25 Pawnee and PA 36 Brave.

Get ready for five of the most fun-filled, educational,relaxing and social days of the year as Sentimental Journey2008 kicks off on June 17. The annual Fly-In has been expanded to five days this year, to accommodate the many visitors who arrive prior to the normal Wednesday first day. Another addition to the Fly-In this year will be seaplane landing and services. In addition to the educational forums, the daily corn boil, the nightly entertainment, the fantastic food vendors, the exhibit hall and the Schrack fly-in picnic, there will be the aviators’ favorites--a spot landing contest on Thursday and (another addition!) a bomb drop contest on Friday.

A DC-3 “Gooney Bird” will be on hand throughout the week to offer rides and tours in the historic aircraft. Live entertainment has been lined up for all five nights of the Fly-In, and Gary’s Cub Pub will be open for your enjoyment. Come early if you’re planning on camping, as campground spaces fill quickly.

Our neighbors in Group 6 are hosting the 2008 American Spirit Aviation Festival in conjunction with the Kiwanis club of Transfer, PA.

Come out of the Greenville Municipal Airport (4G1) June 20 - 22 for airplane rides, hot-air balloons, crafts, food vendors, and a 5k race!

Online applications will only be accepted for the 2008 National Emergency Services Academy (NESA) for a few more days. Eligible members can apply at: https://ntc.cap.af.mil/ops/nesa/. Slots will be filled on a first come first served basis through the 9th of June. There are only a few slots remaining in some courses, so apply now. Currently we have vacancies to fill in the NESA National Ground Search And Rescue School (NGSAR), Mission Aircrew School (MAS), and Incident Command System School (ICSS) courses being conducted at the Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center in Indiana this summer. The fee to attend any session is $175, due at registration.

This Saturday, June 7, AOPA is hosting its annual Fly-In and Open House at Frederick Municipal Airport in Frederick, MD. We have had as many as 900 aircraft here in good weather (and we are expecting good weather this Saturday), but realistically are expecting between 300 and 500 aircraft.

We have a complicating factor this year in that the FAA is expanding the prohibited airspace over Camp David so that the restricted airspace will end just a few miles off the ends of each our northerly runways. We are pursuing every communications avenue available to us and thought CAP might be able to assist in making sure pilots flying into the Washington, DC area are aware of the restriction.

Our request to CAP would be that Civil Air Patrol members in uniform (commanders' or members' discretion: BDUs, Blues, or flight suit) be stationed at the squadron's home airport on Saturday morning and ask departing pilots 1)if they are flying to or through the Washington, DC, area, and 2) if so, are they aware of the expanded prohibited airspace over Camp David.

We are asking that National Headquarters contact Wing Commanders in Northeast, Middle East, and Great Lakes Regions with AOPA's request, and ask in turn that they pass it on to squadron commanders.

AOPA's goal for this weekend is zero P-40 airspace incursions. If, as part of AOPA's communications outreach, CAP would commit to diseminating AOPA's request, AOPA would show its appreciation in a very public way with a donation of $5,000 to the Civil Air Patrol.

We have already begun our communications outreach to pilots through our website (www.aopa.org) and plan to begin outreach through other communications channels within the next 36 hours.
